Ever wonder why some of your co-workers are so happy on monday mornings and all you want to do is punch them in the face? Because they yoga’d this weekend. Yep. Yoga. That thing with the stretching and the breathing and the sweat. So time to put that fist down find out what this “grateful for monday mornings” crap is and get your yoga on too.
But what if I’ve never taken a yoga class before? What’s with this hot yoga and will I pass out? Am I getting a good workout if I go to a regular room-temperature class? Isn’t yoga just stretching? I go to the gym all the time, but is yoga a workout too? What if I can’t touch my toes? What if I just need some time for myself? Don’t you have to be in shape to do yoga?
If you have asked yourself any of those questions- you’re ready for your first class. Welcome! Our integrative studio offers classes for the masses. Time to start the journey to self-care, a rockin’ body, and a clear mind, Beacon Yoga style.
What if I’ve never taken a yoga class before? We’ll be hosting a Beginner Yoga Series every Monday night at 7:30pm. Next series starts on March 6th! But in the meantime, try Janet’s Gentle Flow Wednesdays at 9:15am & 6pm, and Sarah’s Gentle Vinyasa 9:30am Saturday mornings as you’ll find a floor based practice with alignment cues and gentler poses to get you started on your mat.
Isn’t yoga just stretching? (this question KILLS me) Yes, there is a lot of stretching involved, but as we stretch, we move, we use our breath, we build muscle, we let go. It’s SO much more than that. Try Gina’s Mixed Level Vinyasa on Mondays at 9:15am, or Sherry’s on Fridays at 9:15am and see for yourself.
What’s up with Hot Yoga and will I pass out? The room is set to 90 degrees, and the flow is a little more workout style. Drink plenty of water, get a good protein filled snack in your belly, and you’ll be fine! Try Rhianna’s Hot Baptiste Power Flow on Tuesdays at 6pm, and Jessica’s at 8am Hot Vinyasa on Saturdays. You got this.
What if I can’t touch my toes? Flexibility comes with practice, patience, and acceptance. There are many reasons why our hamstrings are tight, and they might not all be physical. Take Melanie’s Restorative class on Wednesdays at 7:30pm if you’re new to this whole “flexibility” thing and ease on into it.
What if I just need some time for myself? Find Rose’s Angelic Yoga on Wednesdays at 11am if you’re looking for some “me” time. She’s guides you to answer those questions you’ve been dying to know, while giving your body and your mind the time to relax. Find this time to listen to your guardian angels and inner intuition.
I go to the gym all the time, but is hot yoga a workout too? Try Rhianna’s 6am Hot Power Hour on Tuesday’s and Thursdays and you may want to ditch the gym and head to yoga instead. Building heat, increasing strength, and burning up to 1,000 calories per class, hot yoga might be the workout you’ve been waiting for.
Am I getting a good workout if I just do room-temperature yoga? Take Mandy’s Rock your Chakra’s Class on Mondays at 6pm or Maria’s Jivamukti on Thursdays at 6pm and then answer that question 🙂
Don’t you have to be in shape to do yoga? If you’re first starting out, you may be sore for a bit, but they best thing about yoga is that it’s for every BODY. Everyone can do yoga, you just have to find the right class for you.
Now let’s take a deep breath. Pull those shoulders down from your ears. Release that tension in your fist. Reduce that urge to punch anyone in the face today, and we’ll see you on the mat tomorrow!
